Semi-Decent Day in Spite of Some Twubbles

Our little buddy got sick and tossed his cookies last night just as I finished writing last night’s entry. Instead of giving him milk before bed, we gave him some flat Sprite. He seemed okay once he calmed down from the drama of upchucking and having us clean him up. He fell asleep in bed with me and then we moved him to his bed shortly after 11:00 pm.

He slept well through the night until 7:50 this morning. After I picked him up, got him a fresh dipe and some juice, and put Barney on the tube, I noticed the little fellow was congested. I even debated on whether to take him to school today, but within a few minutes the congestion seemed to clear. I put him in a cute overalls outfit Grandpa ironed for him, and then off to school we went.

He was saying “Ah-mee” this morning as we sat in the car riders line, and he didn’t whimper at all when Miss Anna hoisted him from his car seat. Miss Anna said she knew he loved Miss Amy and Miss April.

When I went to pick up the little fellow, he walked out with Miss Amy. She said he was great all day until time to form the car riders line. I was fifth in line today, so maybe he didn’t have to wait too long—and maybe the staff didn’t have to listen to his wails too long. She said Max was sweet and that he was like her shadow because he follows her around all day.

He even got into his car seat all on his own once Miss Amy put him in our backseat, but when I got back there with him to buckle him in he threw a fit. I gave him the iPad and he seemed to forget about being angry.

When we got home, Baybay got a fresh dipe, a PB&J, some chocolate chip cookie morsels, and some goldfish crackers. I saw the little fellow dip his chocolate chip cookie morsels into the jelly of his PB&J. I gave him a milk bottle and went upstairs to let him finish it. He gave it back to me with about two ounces left in it, which is unusual. I put him in his bassinet for his nap, which lasted about three-and-a-half hours today.

He was in a great mood when he first awoke, but it wasn’t too long before he was irritable. Our little buddy is, uh, “backed up” again. We give him Miralax on a daily basis, but I cut back on the dose after a few loose stools. That was a bad call on my part, because tonight he pooped in Becky’s tub. He cried when he did, and I could certainly see why.

After half an hour of cleaning Max, Becky, the tub, and me, things got settled down around here. Becky and I piled in the bed with Max and she read him a bunch of stories. Then we all watched Barney together until Becky left to get us some dinner. After she came home and brushed his teeth, she put him to bed. I put a whole capful of Miralax in tonight’s milk bottle, so we might have to change our little fellow during the night. Max has had some serious issues with constipation in the past. Giving him Miralax daily has been a fantastic solution, but apparently I shouldn’t have reduced his dosage even when he had loose stools.

Grandpa phoned tonight to see if The Baybay Man could spend the night with him and Mimi, but Becky talked Grandpa into waiting until tomorrow night.

Good Day; Nap Cut Short Yet Again

Grandpa said Max slept well last night and until 6:45 this morning. They went to the mall and walked, and I stayed home and snoozed until 8:00 am. Grandpa brought the little fellow home from their walk, and I carried him to school. He whimpered just a little bit when I dropped him off, but Miss Amy said he smiled all day until time to form the car riders line.

He was tired when he came home from school. When I gave him his milk bottle, he fell asleep in his highchair. I gave up on getting him to eat anything for lunch, so I took him upstairs and put him in his bassinet for his nap. The little fellow napped for just two hours before being awakened by a number-two. He was in a good mood when he awoke, though. We played in the living room with his alphabet mat; wooden alphabet puzzle; various games on the iPad; and our cat, George.

Granny came home from school with Becky. They had plans to take Max with them to Kmart and Publix. Mimi came over and went with them.

As I write this, Max and Becky are taking a bath. Our little buddy is tired and I’m looking forward to piling in our bed with him in a few minutes and watching a little Barney.

Cast Came Off Today

Max woke up quite early this morning. We tried to persuade him to go back to sleep, but that didn’t work. Max and I enjoyed a lot of cuddle time while watching tunes this morning. After cuddling he and Daddy went walking with Grandpa. I picked up Max early because Grandpa had a physical scheduled, and we needed to get ready for Max’s doctor’s appointment.

Max got his cast off this morning! He was such a good boy while at the doctor’s office. We got a little nervous when they pulled out the saw. Max was a little scared at first, but soon rolled with the flow. The little fellow wanted me to hold his other hand, which I was very happy to do. Dr Oswald gave Max a clean bill of health. We were very excited. Max still favors his once-broken arm as if it were still in a cast. He’s sort of funny with it. We hope he soon goes back to using it.

Max fell asleep in the car on the way home, which might have messed up his normal naptime. After getting home he had a little trouble falling back asleep. It took him about an hour of yacking to drift off to Sleepytown. Jaddie and I actually woke him today. He had a diaper we know needed changing. He was at first upset but quickly turned it around. After eating we went riding through the neighborhood on the golf cart. We visited with neighbors Stephen and Dale, and then Max and I picked up Mimi and Grandpa for a ride. We, of course, went to visit the ducks. Yesterday Max was not a happy camper about not seeing the ducks. He just didn’t understand why the rain should stop him.

Tonight Max and I enjoyed a nice bubble bath in my big tub. We surely have missed that! I scrubbed his right arm to try to get it clean and restore good circulation. I’m sure it will take a while for it to get back to normal.

Max is spending the night with Mimi and Grandpa tonight. Jaddie will catch up with him in the morning. Max is excited about seeing Miss Amy at school tomorrow.

Tons of iPhone/iPad Time; Timeouts at Dinner

Grandpa said Max slept well last night and until 6:45 this morning. I caught up with them at the mall, and after our walk they went to Bojangles for breakfast. It rained just about all day today, so Baybay didn’t get a chance to go see his beloved ducks.

Grandpa brought the little fellow home around 10:00 am, and Max and I played together until 11:20. We played games on our iPad; with his alphabet mat; our cat, George; Mr Potato Head; and with the cool wooden puzzle he received as a birthday gift from his preschool. Max was calm and sweet all morning.

The boy is nuts about his teacher, Miss Amy. He says, “Ah-mee” every little bit and sprinkles in an occasional “cupcake.” Becky and I figure they must enjoy a lot of cupcakes in his class. He’ll miss school tomorrow, though, because he has an appointment to get his cast removed in the morning. We tried to reschedule, but doing so wouldn’t have been practical.

Max began lunch at 11:20, and he enjoyed watching Barney while he ate a just a few bites. I gave him a milk bottle at noon and took him upstairs to finish it. He fell asleep while drinking his milk but still finished the whole bottle. I put him in his bassinet for his nap, which lasted for about three hours. It was cut short by a number-two.

After I cleaned him up, we played games on my iPhone for about two hours. He focused on his Thomas the Train game, specifically the puzzle game. He’s become proficient with this game. It’s been amazing to watch him progress.

After he got tired of Thomas we turned to the same things we played with this morning. We played together until Becky came home at 6:00 pm. She was late because she had a meeting after school and she had to make lesson plans for tomorrow. She’s taking the day off tomorrow so she can go with Max and me to get his cast taken off.

We went to Mimi and Grandpa’s for dinner. Mimi cooked lasagna and even went to the trouble to make a meatless one for me. Grandpa was proud of the new lighting he installed in their pantry. Max was a handful during and after dinner. I put him in timeout three or four times. He got a bath before coming home to milk, bedtime stories with Becky and me, lots of tickling, and bed. When Becky put the little fellow to bed, he whimpered for about half an hour. For the very first time she conceded to his cries and put him in our bed and lay down with him.

I don’t know if he’s sleeping with us tonight or not, but one thing is for sure: he has to get some of those overnight dipes. A regular dipe just won’t shore him up for the nine to eleven hours he sleeps every night.

Up Early for a Lazy Sunday

Max woke us quite early for a Sunday morning. He first started yacking around 5:30, but Jaddie persuaded him to sleep a little longer. He finally got us hopping around 6:30. We enjoyed a lazy, rainy Sunday morning at home. We played with Mr Potato Head a lot. We also read several books many times. We enjoyed a new book today, Tickle Monster. Jaddie and I gave it to him for his birthday. He LOVED it! He wanted me to read it over and over. I finally had to hide it when he wasn’t looking. He kept walking around trying to find it.

Max went down for his nap around 11:00 today. He was super-tired, It’s hard work trying to get people up at o’dark-thirty. He napped for only a couple of hours and woke up in a great mood. He had a snack and then Mimi, Max, and I had to go to Walmart to get a few things. Max was ready for his trip to Wolly World. He walked to car and practically put himself in his car seat. That was so sweet. He was a very good boy the whole time while in Walmart. While there one lady was passing out samples of cheese and turkey. Max took some and immediately asked for cookies. The lady was super-sweet and showed him where to get some cookie samples. I guess you can say Max made a friend! When we got home Max played while I started dinner. Jaddie was on the phone with client. It wasn’t long before Daddy was down to fetch Max, and they had a Barney party. It was so cute when Jaddie took Max upstairs. He looked at me and said, “Mommy.” He wanted me to know I was invited to the party, too! After I got supper cooking I headed to the party.

While the three of us were lying down Max started getting really irritable. We could tell he didn’t get his nap out., so we put him back down. Surely enough, he fell back asleep. He even slept though dinner. Mimi, Grandpa, and Granny came over to have dinner with us and Max slept right thought all of our commotion. I even went in and turned the light on and he didn’t budge. When we all finished dinner finally Max woke up. Bless his heart, for his food was cold. He ate a little anyway. All the little fellow kept talking about was Meow, that’s what he calls our cat, George.

When everyone started to leave, Max loaded up with Mimi and Grandpa. The little fellow went home with them for the night. I already miss my little sweetheart and can’t wait to seem tomorrow.

Grandpa to the Rescue, Lots of Play, Long Nap

Max woke up at 6:45 this morning. When Jaddie went down to fix Max’s juice bottle, he noticed we had a water leak in our laundry room. We had to call Grandpa back for another fix, but before he started to work he, Jaddie, and Max went walking. After their walk Max and Grandpa also went to Bojangles and to see the ducks before repairing the leak.

Max and I really enjoyed playing with his new Mr Halloween Potato Head and jamming to Joanie Bartels while Daddy worked on pictures. Max said his teacher’s name, “Amy,” a lot today. He also said “pumpkin” for the first time. It wasn’t long before Mimi and Grandpa were back over to visit with their favorite lil’ fellow. Max was showing them his Mr Potato Head. He even tried to get George excited about it. It wasn’t long before Max was ready for his nap. He napped for five hours today.

When he got up he wanted goo, and then he was ready for a little Barney time. We had dinner soon. Then it was bathtime. And, believe it or not, Mimi and Grandpa came back over tonight to take Max for a ride on the golf cart. He just returned and it’s bedtime again.

Lots of Play, Long Nap, Bogan Park

Grandpa said Baybay got his day started at 5:45 am. I caught up with them at the mall. The little fellow looked as though he was having a good time being strolled by Grandpa. They went to Bojangles after their walk, and Grandpa said Max behaved pretty well until they were getting ready to leave. Max got a little frustrated but, based on what Grandpa told me, I guess the little fellow’s frustration spill into a tantrum. They went to see the ducks and pick a few scuppernongs at the Wigleys’ before coming home.

When Mr Handsome came home, we played games and watched Barney on the iPad, played with the tough-looking dump truck and Mega Bloks Aunt Jean and Uncle Jack gave him for his birthday, his alphabet mat, George, his castle, and whiffle balls. Grandpa dropped by to install a new toilet seat in our master bath. Our old one wouldn’t stay up, which made it difficult for me to use it at o’dark-thirty without a lot of trouble. Grandpa also installed a new float valve in our guest bath. Baybay “helped” Grandpa as much as he could, but toward the end of Grandpa’s repairs the little fellow began to melt.

I gave him some lunch and let him watch Barney before letting him have his milk bottle. Yesterday he drank nearly two full bottles of milk at lunch. Dr Smiley advised us to give him his drink toward the end of his meal so he’d eat more solid foods. He fell asleep while finishing his bottle and I lay with him for about ten minutes before putting him in his bassinet to continue his nap.

The little fellow awoke around 2:45 this afternoon. I heard him talking to himself, but I was having a computer problem at the moment and didn’t go in to get him. I was trying to split a large file into smaller pieces somehow ended up with more than 12,000 smaller pieces on my desktop. After figuring out the solution, I put my ear against our closed bedroom door to see if he was still awake. He wasn’t. The little fellow went back to sleep and slept until about 4:45. That’s the longest he’s napped in a week or so.

When he finally got up we gave him a snack that included some apple treats Becky brought home from school. Johnny Appleseed’s birthday is this Sunday, and Becky’s class observed it today. Max quickly scaled our stairs to come see me and have me spin him around in our office chair, which is one of his favorite new activities. He and Becky went with Grandpa to visit the ducks again and chatted with neighbor Renae along the way.

When they returned, Becky, Max, and I went to Bogan Park to let our little buddy play while I took a few pictures. Maybe I can share some of those tomorrow. Becky and I were ready to leave the park after about forty-five minutes, but Mr Baybay Man wasn’t. I had to chase the rascal from the park’s frontmost playground all the way to the aquatic center. He had fun being chased, but he was a sore loser when I finally caught him. His meltdown didn’t last long, though, because neighbors Mukti and Raj had just arrived at the park and came over to our car to see Max. Thankfully, Max was sweet to them, gave them a smile or two, and even waved goodbye to them when we left.

We came home and Becky fed Max dinner, gave him a bath, read him some bedtime stories, and put him to bed. Then Becky went to, of all places, Toys“R”Us and bought the little fellow a Fisher-Price cash register that she doesn’t plan to give him until Christmas, and a Halloween-inspired Mr Potato Head, which she plans to give him soon. He hasn’t even had a chance to play with all of the wonderful toys he received for his birthday yet.

Grandpa phoned a little earlier tonight to see if Max was going to stay at home tonight. I guess he was giving us the opportunity to part with Baybay for the night, but Baybay and Becky were having storytime and Baybay was about to go to bed.

And so are we. Becky says we’re going to scoop up our little buddy on our way.

Great Day, No Crying in Car Riders Line

Max had a great day. He slept until 7:45 this morning. He got up, started his morning routine, and before long it was time for school. This morning Jaddie said Max didn’t whimper when Miss Anna got him out of the car. And when Jaddie picked him up Miss Amy said he had a great day and didn’t even cry when it came time to form the car riders line. Jaddie noted that he had a big smile when he got to the car. When Max and Daddy got home Max wanted “goo” and then a nap.

Max only slept for two-and-a-half hours this afternoon. We think his days of long naps are a thing of the past. I guess the lil’ fellow has too much to explore! Max can now say his teacher’s name. Jaddie showed him a picture and he said, “Amy.” We were so surprised. Jaddie asked if he could say April and he did. That’s Max’s other teacher’s name.

Max has been really talking up a storm today. Tonight while eating dinner at Mimi and Grandpa’s, Max shook his head from side to side and talked a lot. Mimi taught him the expression when she was telling him that something was gone, so now when he’s trying to say something is gone, he shakes his head from side to side It’s so cute. Talking was top priority for Max at dinner. He had to serve two timeouts during our meal. One for throwing food and one was for not listening to Daddy.

After dinner Max of course had to go check in on the ducks and get some balls (scuppernongs) at the Wigleys’. Mrs Wigley gave Max a beautiful mallard duck candle. We’re so thankful for Mrs Wigley’s thoughtful gift. We can’t explain why, but our lil’ fellow absolutely loves ducks. When Max and Grandpa came back to Mimi and Grandpa’s, Mimi and I gave the lil’ fellow a shampoo. He was a good boy during his bath. Tonight he’s hanging his hat with Mimi and Grandpa. Jaddie will catch up with him in the morning.
